Firstly the staff are welcoming, attentive and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Our room was lovely and has the only balcony in the hotel. For NYC the room is quite big and has dual aspect views being on the corner. The balcony provides excellent views up and down Madison Avenue and you can also see the NYC Public Library. Located on the corner of 41st and Madison it is literally round the corner from Grand Central Station and so in an excellent central location for walking to most tourist spots or hopping on the metro. Behind the Public Library is Bryant Park, less than 5 mins walk, and a lovely spot to sit outside with a cool drink. The complimentary Continental breakfast is very good and the area (on the 2nd floor) is open 24hrs with a coffee machine and pastries which are out all the time and so excellent if you are up with jet lag. Also the cheese and wine reception (again complimentary) served every evening here between 5 and 8pm is a lovely touch and sets this hotel apart. Overall, we had a wonderful first trip to NY which was in no small part down to the hotel and its staff. We highly recommended it and it will be our first choice when we return.
