We visited the Gran Melia in mid April ( just getting to the review). Rooms: we had 2 rooms for 5 people, a family room and a double. Both were well furnished, spacious and updated with good room amenities including Clarins products, robes, slippers, espresso maker and fridge. The family room had a large double bed in master and a large sleep sofa pullout in the sitting room. Good size bathroom with large shower and tub. Can't say enough about the front hotel service from the doorman to front desk staff, super attentive and handled any request including recommendations for dinner, large taxis, as well as finding a doctor on a Sunday afternoon to do a house call for my aunt, who got sick. Breakfast was included in our rate and it was amazing anything you could want fresh fruit, eggs, meats, cheeses, breads and a menu you could pretty much order what you wanted, worth the money. We did do lunch on the Red level as we wanted to take pictures at the rooftop bar which has an amazing view of Madrid but weather didn't cooperate. Menu features 'foodie' type little eclectic selections very fresh and exquisite presentation. The Martini bar located in the hotel is for those who love an innovative, well mixed cocktail as they take there business seriously( even have white coats like a Cocktail Dr) and have quite a selection ! Just that place alone would bring me back for a visit. Good central location everything we saw took around 10- 20 mins in Uber. Also good little local coffee place with sandwiches directly across from front door if you arrive mid morning with nothing else open. Will definitely be back next time I am in Madrid.
